Which firms have free (not subsidized) meals?

Many of them subsidize dinners and weekend meals purchased while working with some sort of cap that is typically around $40 per meal. And then there are lots of events, receptions, presentations, and the like at which catered food is freely available, plus a mentoring budget where a senior attorney can take a junior attorney out for a meal or drinks and the firm will expense it up to around $75 per person. This expense is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things especially considering how high salaries are in biglaw that no one really cares or pays attention to this.

K&E has nice free food for lunch in all offices. Some but not all have breakfast.

At my firm there are ton of events during the summer with like free shitty conference food and i kind of just.... take stuff when everyone leaves. No idea if I would get in trouble for this but my friends and I just do this and no one seems to care. I assume this is similar at all firms though.

I left during Covid but was at K&E DC pre-pandemic. From 2019 until March 2020 at least, the dining was subsidized but not free. I paid something like $6 for a sandwich or $8 for the entree of the day at lunch. Is that all free now? Maybe I should've stayed...

Paul, Weiss has free breakfast and lunch, and if you're cheeky enough, dinner from the cafeteria. Subsidized dinner if you're in the office past a certain time.

Yup all totally free now, as is coffee from the barista. In my office they have a full breakfast buffet w/ custom omelettes, smoothies, pastries, etc. and then a full lunch on rotating menus. Plus to-go items and snacks. They also have the policy of expensing restaurant delivery when working late but I’ve literally never used it because there’s so much free food already there.

Separately, for travel and recruiting, you can expense $40/person breakfast, $50 lunch, $125 dinner (I think $150 in NYC and SF). For BD it’s limited only by your BD budget.

Same with Cov DC. Dinners (if working past 8 pm) are free and tax-free if delivered to the office. If delivered to home/another address, they are free but count as income for tax purposes.

Not sure what counts as subsidies, but costs are low/reasonable for meals at the cafeteria throughout the week.

STB free breakfast, lunch, snacks and coffee on site everyday. Also have free coffee at a coffee shop across the street for a few hours midday each day.

Free dinner order if you work past certain time.
